Inheritance Query

Question

I just want to find out that after the death of my father, me, my mother and sisters do have a share in my grandfather money and property. My grandfather and all the other brother and sisters of my father are still alive. Wanted to know what Islam say in this regard.

Answer

In the name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-ramatullāhi wa-barakātuh

1. If your grandfather passes away, his children (your uncles, aunts) will inherit the estate.

2. You and your siblings and mother will not inherit the estate.

3. Your late father has passed on before your grandfather’s death; hence you all as his children and wife will not inherit from his estate.[1]
