Gaining Concentration In Salah

Question:

If we loose concentration in Salah and start thinking about other things (unintentionally) do we have to do Sujood Al-Sahwi? Also if we mess a few letters while reciting, and we dont know did that change the whole meaning, do we have to do Sujood Al-Sahwi?

Answer:

As-salāmu ‘Alaykum Wa-rahmatullāhi Wa-barakātuh.

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

1. Whilst performing Salaah, one should try to completely devote him/herself towards Allah Ta‘ala. That I am standing in the court of Allah Ta‘ala, hence if one stands with such devotion and concentration then he/she would be able to gain complete Kushoo and Khuthoo in Salaah. If any thoughts occur one should circumvent them and regain concentration and focus on the divine presence of Allah Ta‘ala and concentrate on the actions of Salaah (such as the recitation, Dua’s and the Tasbihaat in the different postures of Salaah).

2. In principle if a person omits a Waajib act in Salaah he should make Sajda-e-Sahw, hence by missing few letters in the recitation Sajda-e-Sahw will not become binding.
