My Usual Period Has Become Irregular

Question:

My usual period was 5 to 6 days. After having my third cesarean baby it has become very irregular with respect to number of days it persist as well as a gap in between. In most months it remains more than 10 days although after 6 to 7 days it is spotting once or twice a day. In this situation, should I stick to my previous system of 6 days and start Salaat or will I have to wait until 10 days before starting.

Answer:

In the name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-raḥmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Due to your bleeding continuing more than 10 days in most months, all the days which are more than your normal period will be regarded as Istihaada.[1] So in this situation your period will remain to 7 days. It will be Wajib for you to make Qada of your Salaat for the balance of these days.
