What is Lailatul Qadr?
Answer
In the name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu
Lailatul Qadr is one of the greatest nights which appear on one of the odd nights of the last 10 nights of Ramadhan. One could be fortunate to find this night on one of the following nights; 21 , 23 , 25 , 27 , 29.
Allah Ta‘ala mentions in the Holy Qura’an about this night;
إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍتَنَزَّلُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِم مِّن كُلِّ أَمْرٍ
سَلَامٌ هِيَ حَتَّىٰ مَطْلَعِ الْفَجْرِ
‘’Indeed We revealed it (the Holy Qura’an) on the night of Power. And what will make you know what the night of Power is, the night of Power is better than a thousand months, there in descends the Angels and the Rooh (Jibraeel Alayhis Salaam) with Allah’s permission with all decrees, Peace prevails till the rising of dawn. ”[1]
عن عائشة رضي الله عنها : أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ، قال: تحروا ليلة القدر في الوتر، من العشر الأواخر من رمضان.
(باب تحري ليلة القدر في الوتر من العشر الأواخر)
”Ummul Mumeneen Aisha Radhiyallahu Anha reports:
Rasoolullah Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said, ‘’Search for the night of Power in the odd nights of the last ten nights of Ramadhan‟.[2]
