Making Tayammum due to Severe Eczema

Question:

Assalamualaykum.

If a person suffers from severe eczema, and by doing wudhu for every salaah it becomes irritating for his skin as he has to reapply his creams due to them being washed off in wudhu, would it be permissible for this person to do tayammum ,or if not, can he do wudhu in a light way [to not wash off the creams but just wet the skin ?

Answer:

As-salāmu ‘Alaykum Wa-rahmatullāhi Wa-barakātuh.

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

If a person is able to pass his wet hand over the affected area whilst making Wudhu then he should do so instead of washing[1], however if he feels that by using water his skin condition would deteriorate, Tayamum would suffice for him.[2]
