How Many Times to Recite Takbīrāt al-Tashrīq

I know that reciting takbeer al-tashreeq during the days of Hajj after every fard salah is wajib. My query is: How many times? If somebody recites it three times will that be a bidaat or is it a Sunnah to recite three times?

(Question published as received)

In the name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-raḥmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

To recite the Takbīrāt al-Tashrīq after the Farḍ Ṣalāh during the days of Ḥajj (i.e. starting from after Fajr on the 9th of Dhu ’l-Ḥijjah and ending after ‘Aṣr on the 13th of Dhu ’l-Ḥijjah) is Wājib. The Takbīrāt al-Tashrīq should be read once. [1]

It is permissible to recite the Takbīr three times without regarding it compulsory. [2]

[2] Muftī Rashīd Aḥmad Ludhyānwī (Raḥimahullāh) states in respect to this: “Some consider (reciting Takbīrāt al-Tashrīq more than once) to be  against the Sunnah, whilst others consider it permissible. Hence, to avoid Ikhtilāf, one should suffice on reciting it only once.” He further states, “the one who considers reciting Takbīrāt al-Tashrīq thrice to be compulsory is sinful and an innovator (Mubtadi‘). It is necessary for him to repent from this innovation.” (Aḥsan al-Fatāwā, 4/152. Sa‘īd)
