Wearing Impure Clothes


Assalam o alaikum..

It is permissible to wear night fall clothes without washing?? (These clothes only used for sleeping ) or you have to wash them every time??

In the name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-raḥmatullāhi wa-barakātuh

Our Dīn teaches us to remain pure and clean at all times. It is imperative for a Muslim to remain in the state of purity at all times. Similarly, one should ensure that he keeps his clothes pure and clean from any filth or physical impurities. Rasūlullāh Ṣallallāhu alayhi wa sallam has mentioned in a Ḥadīth [1],

‏ ‏الطهور شطر الإيمان

“Purity is half of Imān (faith)”

If one soils his clothes with Najāsah, he should try his best to remove that Najāsah as soon as possible. If the Najāsah has exceeded the size of a Dirham/Fifty pence coin [2], then it is Wājib to wash the soiled portion [3]. However, if it less than the above mentioned size, then it is Mustaḥab (desirable) to wash it.

وعفي قدر الدِّرْهَم مساحة كعرض الْكَفّ فِي الرَّقِيق، ووزناً بِقدر مِثْقَال فِي الكثيف من نجس مغلظ كَالدَّمِ وَالْبَوْل وَلَو من صَغِير لم يَأْكُل وكل مَا يخرج من بدن الْآدَمِيّ مُوجبا للتطهير وَالْخمر وخرء الدَّجَاج وَنَحْوه وَبَوْل الْحمار والهرة والفأرة وَكَذَا الروث والخثي خلافًا لَهما

(قوله: وعفي قدر الدرهم كعرض الكف من نجس مغلظ كالدم والبول والخمر وخرء الدجاج وبول ما لا يؤكل لحمه والروث والخثي) ؛ لأن ما لا يأخذه الطرف كوقع الذباب مخصوص من نص التطهر اتفاقا فيخص أيضا قدر الدرهم بنص الاستنجاء بالحجر؛ لأن محله قدره ولم يكن الحجر مطهرا حتى لو دخل في قليل ماء نجسه أو بدلالة الإجماع عليه

“وعفي قدر الدرهم” وزنا في المتجسدة وهو عشرون قيراطا ومساحة في المائعة وهو قدر مقعر الكف داخل مفاصل الأصابع كما وفقه الهندواني وهو الصحيح فذلك عفو “من” النجاسة “المغلظة فلا يعفى عنها إذا زادت على الدرهم مع القدرة على الإزالة “و” عفي قدر “ما دون ربع الثوب” الكامل “أو البدن” كله على الصحيح من الخفيفة لقيام الربع مقام الكل كمسح ربع الرأس وحلقه وطهارة ربع الساتر وعن الإمام ربع أدنى ثوب تجوز فيه الصلاة كالمئزر
