Performing Salah Without Jilbab

Question:

Will prayer be accepted if woman don’t pray in a jilbab that covers body from head to toes (one piece garment), I pray in jilbab that starts from shoulders and then put a scarf on her head?

Answer:

As-salāmu ‘Alaykum Wa-rahmatullāhi Wa-barakātuh.

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Respected sister

The conditions for the validity of a women’s Salah with regards to her clothing is that other than her face, hands and feet the entire body must be covered.[1]

It seems that this condition of covering yourself during Salah is met and therefore your Salah will be valid.

However, keep in mind if before Salah, a quarter of the limb which is compulsory to cover is left uncovered then the Salah will be considered invalid. If during Salah a quarter of the limb which is compulsory to cover becomes exposed for the duration of saying Subhanallah three times then the Salah will become void.[2]

Therefore, please ensure that your neck, back of your neck or under your chin does not become exposed and your head scarf (Do Patta) is big enough to cover these areas.
